Express Global Logistics (EXG) secured a critical movement of Waste Heat Recovery Units (WHRU) module structure from West India to East India. This was implemented during a nationwide lockdown. Detailed planning and permissions were required as the movement was across different states in India.
The module structure 8.6 X 5.45 X 5.2 (m) in size and 55MT in weight was moved on a set of hydraulic axles owned by EXG. We covered a distance of 3700 kms from Gujarat to Odisha successfully in just 66 days.
The height of the unit, for such a long haul, was the biggest challenge. Since the average height of the hoardings and road signs is ~5.5 m, the EXG team had to thoroughly map out the entire journey to ensure the unit did not face any obstacles. The total height with axles was 6.4 m, which made it essential for road signs to be dismantled along the route. Civil work was done by our team to navigate challenging road conditions.
EXG deployed a six-member crew along with an escort vehicle to shadow the transport for 66 days straight. The job was initially secured at a time when the challenges were – the distance, height of the obstacles and the natural terrain. The initiation of a national lockdown in midst of a global pandemic added further complexity for the project. The crew, however, was persistent and went on to arrange for all necessary permissions and critical resources to ensure no delay in the movement.
The enthusiasm and commitment of the crew was unparalleled. EXG ensured all the necessary safety and precautionary measures were taken for the crew who are now back home and safe.
